Wood Pellet Stoves
Wood pellet stoves have become very popular since their invention in the 1980's. They are so popular because of their fuel efficiency. They are small stoves that run off of electricity and burn compressed wood pellets made of sawdust. What are the advantages of using wood pellet stoves? Well, the number one reason is the fuel is inexpensive and produces very little waste. The wood pellet stoves burn these highly compressed wood pieces. The pellet stoves have a hopper where the pellets are stored and transferred into the chamber with an auger. There is either a small computer or thermostat that will regulate the temperature and know when more fuel is needed to burn. The only thing you need to worry about is keeping the hopper filled with pellets, then the auger will move the pellets into the fire as needed. Wood pellet stoves have a great efficiency rating of 80 to 85 percent. They are far more efficient than the larger and more expensive gas furnaces. Wood pellet stoves have a negative pressure system which propels the hot air it produces out, pushing the heat much further than it would normally go. The pellets are great because they burn completely without smoke, making a large chimney unnecessary. These stoves only need a small pipe which leads to the outside, ridding any excess smoke. Because they are so efficient, there is very little waste. You can use a 40 pound bag of pellets and it will only leave a cup of ash. You can use these wood pellet stoves for months without the need to clean the ashes. These pellets which are the fuel, are made from the sawdust left in wood mills and lumberyards. They compress the sawdust at high temperatures, not by chemicals or glue. You can buy a 40 pound bag of pellets for less than 5 bucks when you buy it in bulk. If you want a better alternative to your electric heat, then wood pellet stoves make a great alternative. They can produce enough heat for your home and save you tons of money in the process.
